The St Andrew the Less Community Project

We are saving the deconsecrated, 13th century church of St Andrew the Less in Cambridge so that it becomes a space for learning, connection, inspiration and support for our community and beyond. This is a space that needs a lot of attention, but has enormous potential and reach, situated as it is close to the centre of Cambridge and in a part of the city undergoing major redevelopments, including the Cambridge Retail Park, Beehive Centre and Grafton Centre.

Target Audience

1. Local residents and the Abbey Ward community
2. Learners of all ages
3. Visitors and the wider public
4. People seeking wellbeing and connection with nature
5. The wider Cambridge and national public

Specific Opportunity Details

We are a nascent charity looking for someone to partner with us from the very beginning! The restoration and revitalisation of St Andrew the Less, carefully mindful of the needs of our community, will redefine our area as a cultural and economic centre, positioning our neighbourhood as a key part of Cambridge’s historical story. The deconsecrated church will be central to addressing the three core elements of our project: Heritage, Community and Environment. We will do this by creating projects around community and belonging and linking up local heritage and biodiversity sites, resulting in significant social impact.
