Ex Cathedra are looking for sponsorship to support their Singing Medicine project as they strive to positively impact peoples lives.
We, Ex Cathedra www.excathedra.co.uk are a charity. We run a unique and award-winning (Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Arts in Health, 2011, Royal Society for Public Health), project for sick, isolated, long term stay children in hospital. Through Singing Medicine www.singingmedicine.co.uk we bring the powerfully positive effects of singing-play for distraction, for development through play, to facilitate communication and choices in a situation where they are limited. Research shows singing reduces pain, aids communication and improves feelings of wellbeing.
Target Audience
Our project is for healthcare patients, particularly children aged 0 - 18 years and their families. 'While undergoing chemo as a child, Singing Medicine was THE only thing that kept a semblance of me' patient. ' WE are seeking a sponsor which aims to make a difference in the healthcare sector.
Key Dates and Timings
Singing Medicine takes place 52 weeks of the year at Birmingham Children's Hospital. We are a very visible and audible! presence in this large hospital. From time to time, we present at national conferences and will be presenting at a national healthcare conference of 1800 healthcare professionals later in the winter.
Specific Opportunity Details
Singing Medicine takes place every week, in every in-patient unit, at Birmingham Children's Hospital, as well as other regional hospitals for shorter project timescales. Our online activities can be access via www.singingmedicine.co.uk as well as through purpose made music video bundles for other patient groups (eg Stroke and dementia). Every child we work with is given our singing, Noah Bear (teddy Bear) and interactive (music videos) activity books. We are embarking on creating a second (of highest recording industry standards) music video featuring children and staff. The first one we created was viewed 46,000 times within the first 48 hours and was featured on BBC radio (national and regional). We are seeking our first sponsorship partner to support our endeavour to meet the demand for the project work.
