Here at Presfield all our wonderful students have a diagnosis of Autism and associated social communication difficulties. However, we are passionate about challenging the stereotypical view of people with autism and as such strongly subscribe to Dr Stephen Shores view that ‘Once you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism’ and therefore.
Each year we organise an end of year residential trip to celebrate our students achievements and afford them the opportunity to put into practice the skills they have developed over the year, including money management, time keeping and social communication. This year we are planning our biggest residential to date, visiting Barcelona. This will be the first time some of our students have visited another country and experienced the cultural delights there.
To support our students’ understanding of the world and value of money we fundraise throughout the year to subsidise the cost of the trip. Throughout the year we will hold fundraising evenings, sponsored runs/ bike rides, enterprise initiatives such as running a market stall and car washes. This year as part of our fundraising we have also developed a “Sponsor a Student” programme. Please see attached flyer.
We would like to ask you if you would be willing to sponsor us in order to help make this trip possible.
