Celebrity Football Match to raise funds to accelerate a treatment for MEF2C Haploinsufficiency
At the MEF2C Foundation (non-profit), we’ve served the MEF2C Haploinsufficiency Syndrome patients all over the UK (and the world) since 2023. Last year we raised half a million pounds to kick start a drug development project for this rare condition. This year we are aiming to raise an additional 1 million pounds to fund the necessary pre-clinical readiness studies to be able to fast track the first ever treatment for this rare condition through clinical trials and get this to our patients (mostly children) in less than 5 years.
On the 3rd of November we are planning to co-host a Celebrity charity football match in Chertsey Town FC, alongside Sellebrity Soccer. At this event we will have many celebrities play and we will raise money from the ticket sales.
In this role, your business would provide a £2000 donation amount, and in turn we would promote your company by having your logo on the chest area of the football kits, that the celebrities will be wearing, and also in the Sellebrity Soccer and MEF2C Foundation social media channels. We have also just secured an interview with the BBC (next week!) which will provide another opportunity to raise the visibility of your company with the media.
Alternatively, your team could provide £1000 in your role as sponsor, that in turn would allow us to display your logo on the sleeves of the football kits.
Target Audience
Families, Males, Football fans, Celebrity fans, into sports and philantropy, disabled communities.

Laike’s Inspiring Story
Born into a bustling family with eight siblings and a guardian angel brother, Laike has brought immense joy and invaluable lessons into their lives. Despite several challenges, including a difficult final trimester of pregnancy, Laike’s arrival was nothing short of a miracle. His early days hinted at what lay ahead; slight jaundice delayed his homecoming, and difficulties with breastfeeding suggested something might be amiss.
By the age of five months, concerns about Laike’s developmental progress led to medical consultations. At seven months old, Laike experienced his first seizure, setting off a whirlwind of medical tests and hospital visits. Diagnosed with right-sided focal epilepsy and severe visual impairments by ten months, Laike’s medical journey culminated in a diagnosis of MEF2C Haploinsufficiency Syndrome just before his second birthday.
Rallying for a Brighter Future
Despite the challenges, Laike’s family remains hopeful and determined. With the support of numerous healthcare professionals and the unwavering love of his family, Laike continues to work on his mobility, communication, and overall quality of life. His smile, infectious laugh, and love for cuddles and his favourite cartoon, “Ra Ra the Noisy Lion,” keep the spirits high.
The decision to have a PEG tube inserted has been transformative, allowing Laike to receive proper nutrition and medication, bringing his seizures under better control and giving him more energy for therapy sessions and milestone achievements.

Other Info
We think this is a great event that will attract a large audience (between 3-5k people) Previous sellebrity soccer events have already been covered in the BBC regional news in the pass and in local press, and we are sharing our press release to secure further media coverage for this one as well. (As mentioned above, one BBC interview already secured)
We are a charity that support a very rare disease. Hence we are small and our community is spread out (we are not really local to anywhere in particular) But our patient ambassador for this event is Laike, a little boy affected by MCHS who lives in Hook.
While this is one event, we would be very keen to understand further partnerships opportunities between this specific events. Next year we plan to launch an annual 1.hiking challenge, we have 2.one runner with a place in the London Marathon 3.further sellebrity soccer match with a different child ambassador.
