Lothian United Handball Club

Lothian United Handball Club is a fast-growing, community-driven sports club based in Edinburgh, Scotland. We provide free and low-cost handball opportunities for more than 40 young people across three schools and a local community centre. Our players range from Primary 5 up to S3, and our sessions are open and inclusive to all backgrounds, with a particular focus on diversity and accessibility.

By partnering with us, your business will not only gain visibility among families, schools, and local communities in Edinburgh, but also align with values of health, teamwork, and youth development. Sponsors will benefit from:

Brand exposure on team kits, equipment, banners, and across our active social media channels.

Community goodwill by supporting a grassroots, youth-focused club that promotes healthy lifestyles and inclusion.

Event promotion opportunities, including our upcoming Edinburgh Handball Cup for schools – the first of its kind in the city.

Direct local engagement with parents, schools, and young people in Edinburgh through our weekly training sessions and seasonal events.

Handball is one of Europe’s most exciting sports and is growing rapidly in Scotland. By sponsoring Lothian United, you will be part of introducing and growing this sport in the UK, while gaining positive brand recognition in a unique and expanding market.

Target Audience

Our primary audience is young people aged 11–15 (Primary 7 to S3) who train and compete weekly with the club. Handball appeals equally to boys and girls, making our membership gender-balanced.

Beyond the players, our audience includes:

Parents and families (aged 30–50), highly engaged through school and community sports.

Schools and teachers across Edinburgh, giving sponsors visibility in the education sector.

Local community members attending training sessions and events at Leith Community Centre and school venues.

Demographic:

Inclusive and diverse backgrounds (reflecting Edinburgh’s multicultural population).

Families interested in health, education, and youth development.

Active, community-focused individuals, many with strong ties to schools and local businesses.

Handball is still a new and exciting sport in Scotland, which means our audience is curious, enthusiastic, and growing quickly. Sponsors will connect with families and young people at the heart of the Edinburgh community.

Sponsorship Duration: We are seeking partners for the 2025/26 school seasons (September–June). Packages can run for 12 months or longer depending on agreement.

Specific Opportunity Details

Lothian United Handball Club currently runs weekly training sessions at Leith Community Centre, Holyrood High School, and Broughton High School, reaching over 40 active players aged 11–15, plus their families and school communities.

We are preparing to launch the first-ever Edinburgh Handball Cup for schools, which will bring together teams from across the city in 2025. This event will be a major opportunity for sponsors to showcase their brand in front of a new audience.

Our online presence is growing steadily:

In addition, our club works directly with 3 schools (and expanding), giving sponsors direct visibility within the local education network. Each week, parents and families are engaged through training, matches, and community events.

For sponsors, this means:

Logo placement on playing kits, training equipment, and promotional materials.

Promotion through our social media channels and school newsletters.

Direct association with a fast-growing, inclusive grassroots sport in Scotland.

The chance to support young people in Edinburgh by providing opportunities to play an Olympic sport not widely available in the UK.

With handball growing rapidly in popularity, especially among youth, this is a unique chance to become an early partner of a sport with high growth potential in Scotland.

By supporting Lothian United, you not only gain visibility but also align your brand with positive community values – youth development, diversity, and grassroots sport.

Other Partners

At present, we do not have commercial sponsors on board – which makes this an excellent opportunity for a partner to become our founding sponsor and gain exclusivity in their sector.

We do, however, work closely with local schools (Holyrood High School, Broughton High School, and Leith Community Centre), and we collaborate with the Scottish Handball Association through competitions and development projects.

This means our partners will be associated not only with our growing grassroots club, but also with respected educational and sporting institutions in Edinburgh.

Investment

We are seeking sponsorship packages starting from £500 – £2,000 per season, depending on the level of involvement and visibility (kit branding, event sponsorship, or club-wide partnership).

The preferred form of support is a cash investment, which allows us to cover essential costs such as equipment, hall hire, and tournament organisation.

However, we are also open to contra or product support – for example, provision of sports kit, training equipment, refreshments for events, or promotional items that can be distributed at our tournaments.

This flexible approach ensures that partners of all sizes can be involved and see tangible benefits from their support.

Other Info

Lothian United Handball Club is more than just a sports team – we are building the foundations of handball in Edinburgh. As one of the few dedicated handball clubs in Scotland, we provide young people with access to an Olympic sport that is still new and exciting in the UK.

Our activities are inclusive and free/low-cost, ensuring that no child is excluded due to financial background. We also run youth leadership programmes, giving our older players the chance to mentor and organise events such as the upcoming Edinburgh Handball Cup.

By supporting us, sponsors are not only gaining visibility – they are helping to grow a new sport, inspire young people, and create a positive legacy for the community.

As this is the first-ever Edinburgh Handball Cup, sponsors have the chance to be part of a historic milestone for Scottish sport and gain long-term association with a project that is set to expand rapidly in schools and communities.
