ELITE Pathway
ELITE Pathway – My name is Ed Haslam, I’m the Director of Sporting Excellence of the Laurus Trust.
The Trust is an ‘outstanding’ multi-academy education provider based in Stockport/Manchester. We are a hugely oversubscribed academy converter with a reputation locally, and further afield, for outstanding teaching and learning through the relentless pursuit of excellence and a determination to ensure that every child succeeds. It has been judged Outstanding in every category by Ofsted in 2011, 2015, and 2023. In the 2019 Progress 8 Headline measure CHHS came in the top 3% of schools nationally and was named Secondary School of the Year 2018 at the Greater Manchester Schools Awards.
We currently have 4 primary schools, 6 high schools, and 4 post-16 provisions.
As a Trust, sport is extremely high on our agenda and we are always looking to take it further; we have recently launched the ELITE Pathway, The Pathway is an initiative that provides support for aspirational athletes to achieve their academic potential and sporting dreams and this is done in numerous ways. It consists of between 80-90 students per academic year, students who are classed as ‘elite’ at their sport, for their age. The pathway’s main aim is to aid our students ‘pathway’ into ‘elite’ sport but in a way in which they don’t compromise their academics
We have students who represent Great Britain, England, Man United, Man City, Sale Sharks, Lancashire Cricket, and much more
We are the first ever school/trust to have an official partnership with Loughborough University which was years in the planning but they loved what we are aiming to do; we really love to work with organisations to make a difference in these young people’s lives and support their journey into elite sport.
Like with any new partnership, we would make a big deal on our websites and socials with 1000’s of people accessing our site every day. We would promote your brand regularly to parents and to our students.
We are looking to ‘dress’ our students in a professional manner for when they attend events, travel to Loughborough University, etc, we want our students to look uniform and we are asking any individual/company/organisation to sponsor our kit, this would be front and center of all clothing that we purchase, students and staff would wear these daily, our social media presence would be regular and you’d be putting your name to future stars.
We’ll be producing an updated video with a professional videographer which will again be viewed by 1000’s of people.

Specific Opportunity Details
We are state schools so completely nonprofit and nonselective – we are trying to level the playing field and give state school students the same opportunities as privately educated students. We have 121 ‘elite’ students across 10 schools, our website has thousands of hits per day, and our social media is regular.
