Changing Tides Row
In January 2026, two Royal Marine Veterans will row 3,200 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, from Lanzarote to Antigua, testing the limits of their endurance, teamwork and resilience.
Sean Phelps and Jon Towers will raise money for two chosen charities; Care after Combat and Samaritans
Sean and Jonny met when serving together in the Royal Marines, completing tours in Iraq and Northern Ireland. They were ‘oppos’ but after leaving the marines, lost touch due to the distance between their home towns. Twenty five years later, they reunited and discovered that their friendship was unchanged.
The pair are passionate about mental health and resilience, touching on their own adversities to inspire others to push through their struggles. They have named their Team ‘Changing Tides’ in reflection of the journey a person can make from adversity, to adventure. Pushing through dark times to emerge stronger than ever.
The row is part of an annual event called The Atlantic Dash.
We are seeking sponsorship costs to help with the costs of the trip. The boat hire, equipment, rations, travel costs in particular.
Supporting Changing Tides as a sponsor aligns your company with a powerful story of adversity, adventure and resilience.
