The Stourbridge Open 2024 is seeking sponsorship after the success from last year’s Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tournament.

Last year’s tournament attracted Wye Valley Brewery as the main sponsor and duly the full tournament name was ‘Wye Valley Brewery Stourbridge Open 2023’. The 2023 event was a huge success, held in early October and attracted over 100 squash players of varying standards. The professional competition allowed for 18 UK-based athletes from around the country to compete for the title, including the runner up of the recently held British Junior Open Jonah Bryant (World Ranked 111th, see attached photo of the presentation).

So pleased were they with the response, the PSA made immediate contact after the conclusion of the 2023 event to start arrangements for the 2024 tournament and Stourbridge Squash Club are endeavouring to make the 2024 event BIGGER and BETTER! To achieve bigger and better, the tournament is being upgraded from a PSA Challenger $3K to a PSA Challenger $6K competition! This however does come with needing to raise more money through sponsorship and we are excited with you potentially becoming the main sponsor! The upgrade of the tournament will attract stronger, higher rate players from both the UK and overseas, whilst also increasing the main event entries up to 28 professional athletes!

Target Audience

Squash players/athletes, supporters. Predominantly Male 18-30 Athletes, 25-50 club standard squash players and families.

Key Dates and Timings

Wednesday 26th September to Sunday 29th September 2024 for the PSA Challenger event with the Graded Competition taking place over the same weekend

Specific Opportunity Details

The increased competition size along with additional funding/prizemoney will attract a greater number and an increased standard of player to our club and hopefully further put the club and tournament on the map! To help increase the number of entries to the graded competition. Positive feedback from a number of the non-professional players in the graded competition was that they were able to watch and enjoy some top quality squash on show included in the entry to the competition. This year’s event held in early October attracted over 100 squash players of varying standards. The professional competition allowed for 18 UK-based athletes from around the country to compete for the title, including the winner and recently crowned British Junior Open Champion Jonah Bryant (World Ranked 111th). Jonah has recently been listed as a nominee for Sport Aid’s One To Watch Award previously won by Tom Daly! A top 100 ranked player has already provisionally entered the competition.

A Graded Competition runs in parallel with the PSA event which brings together players from around the country but more so from our surrounding counties of Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire. This provides opportunities to players of all standards, not only to participate but also to watch professional standard squash. Your branding would be visible to all. A world ranked top 100 player has already provisionally entered the competition. Like last year the finals are scheduled to take place on the Sunday afternoon, which as a main sponsor would be great for you to attend should you wish to and potentially be involved in the award presentation ceremony.

To benefit from the above fantastic marketing opportunity, both during the tournament and for the 12 months after, we are only asking the main sponsor of the event to provide £5000. It would be great if you would be able to sponsor the event and in doing so help to promote ‘the healthiest sport’ that we all know and love, and newest Olympic sport which is only going to increase participation and interest. I look forward to hearing from you! 😊
