Royal British Legion Scotland are seeking sponsorship as they start to plan for the next two annual pilgrimages.

Royal British Legion Scotland is the largest ex-service membership organisation in Scotland. We have been assisting
veterans and their families for over 100 years. We provide comradeship and practical support as well as volunteering opportunities and commemorative/Remembrance events.

As part of our service delivery the Veterans Community Support Service (VCSS) provides practical hands-on support for veterans, particularly those struggling with isolation and loneliness. Our aim is to befriend, support & encourage veterans to engage with likeminded people in the first instance, eventually giving them the confidence to re-engage with the outside world. This is done with the help of a support volunteer working in conjunction with a support coordinator. There are no time limits as to how long this might take, we support the veteran for as long as needed.

VCSS holds an annual Pilgrimage trip for those veterans who have made progress and adapted well to the support given to them and is crucial in providing the next step for them to reintegrate with a peer support group and to get their life back on track

Target Audience

Veterans of all ages, all genders with an interest in military history and comradeship events

Key Dates and Timings

We are currently looking ahead to the next 2 years to plan a Pilgrimage for October 2024 and October 2025. The trips would be approximately 4-5 days in duration. Proposed plans include two trips, one that would take in Pilgrimage to the Tower of London, visit to the Chelsea Hospital and Imperial War Museum and a second visit to the National Memorial Arboretum with stop at the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester.

Specific Opportunity Details

The Pilgrimage is normally covered on all our social media platforms while it takes place and given a write up in our Biannual magazine which is distributed to over 20,000 members and supporters. Details are also included in the Unforgotten Forces Newsletter, which reaches a wide audience across the third sector and in the membership newsletter which reaches over 7,000 of our members directly.

It is a fantastic opportunity to highlight details of any Sponsors or Partners who have collaborated with us to help make the trips happen and to raise awareness of how those Sponsors have demonstrated support for our veterans and shown their appreciation for their service and sacrifice.

Features and Benefits

Sponsors would receive free advertising and PR through the Legion Scotland Magazine and possible press articles as well as exposure on our social media platforms. Our membership base covers a wide range of ages and backgrounds, many of whom are non ex-service, so we have a wide base of supporters who could be reached by a Sponsors message.

Royal British Legion Scotland also have the opportunity to put names forwards for events such as the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Garden Party and other VIP occasions and have in the past nominated representatives on behalf of our Sponsors as a way of saying thank you for their support.

Other Partners

Our main partners are Poppy Scotland & The Unforgotten Forces Consortium which is part funded by the Scottish Government, we also have a collaboration with Fares4Free to provide transport and comradeship in the community.

Investment

Cash investment of £30,000 to cover two trips
