Maida Villa FC was a club born in 2020 when covid19 forced the nation into an unprecedented lockdown. Despite the ominous outlook, a group of friends decided to get together in the local park and create an organised sports team. A group of people from all walks of life, Maida Villa is a club that represents a huge diversity of culture, nationalities, religions, socio-economic backgrounds – in other words, fruit from the most diverse melting pot that is the great city of London, Maida Villa FC represented hope for a local community where people could come an escape for a few hours a week, forming true friendships and bonds with people and the club becoming a support structure for ongoing mental health management. As a club, we are self funded and have always relied on everyone to chip into to get this far. We are looking to take this club to the next level and when you take a look at our body of work, it was not without ups and downs but we are extremely proud of the culture we have built and the impact we have had to so many people who needed help. We want this club to become a symbol of hope and progress for those who grew up in a difficult situation to have a greater cause that they can contribute to, gain strength and feel a like a real part of that community.
Target Audience
18-30 males, from deprived areas of London and with a culturally diverse background. Open to having female teams and younger boys teams but funding has prevented us from being able to do so thus far.
Key Dates and Timings
We would initially like to get commitment for 12 months from a partner who would want to grow with our club and be a part of our journey.
