Joanne Laird is looking for sponsorship as she is currently competing in British Powerlifting.

Joanne Laird – I currently compete in British Powerlifting (BP) which is affiliated with the IPF (International Powerlifting Federation), the largest and most successful of the federations. The sport has grown massively over the last 5 years with an explosion of talent across all age and weight classes with European and World records being broken at many of the recent competitions held, notably the SBD Sheffield invite Mar 23 which saw 24 world class lifters compete for the largest cash prize of any Powerlifting competition. I hope that with any successful sponsorship that they would benefit from any exposure that you will receive with podium and medal success. I am also heavily involved in the Powerlifting community volunteering at competitions, gaining my L1 Coaching and about to undertake the divisional referees course. The sport is entirely self funded and along with coaching costs all travel, entrée fees and accommodation needs to be provided.

Target Audience

Open to all interested in the sport from 14+, male and female, para lifters, supplements (drug free), healthy eating, fitness and sports.

Key Dates and Timings

Selected for Team GB at the IPF World bench press championships in Sun City, South Africa from 20-28 May 23.

Specific Opportunity Details

Following on from an explosive trajectory since taking up the sport in 2021, I competed in the All England bench and All England Championships in 2022 and placing 1st in both disciplines. I then competed in the British Masters Championships in Northern Ireland placing second behind the current European champion. I was then selected to compete for England in the Commonwealth Championships in New Zealand in Nov 22, coming away with 3 silver and 1 bronze medal across bench and full power disciplines. I have recently competed in the British bench and equipped bench championships in Mar 23, coming out as British Champion in both disciplines. Due to my placings at the Commonwealth and The British I have now been selected to represent Team GB at the upcoming IPF World Championships in Sun City, South Africa in May 23. My sponsor would get the opportunity to support all those taking up a sport later in life, specifically mature females over 40 years old. My sponsor would get connections into the powerlifting world through my existing and increasing following base of 600 which includes British and European champions in powerlifting and many in the Strongman community. I might not have a huge following at the moment this early in my journey however, with current content of training and competition submissions with views from 2-1200 thousand views. I believe that in order to be successful I also have to give back and that includes helping others in their journey.

Features and Benefits

Any potential sponsorship could be named on all my social media posts (due to IPF sponsor regulations no sponsor decals are permitted to be shown on stage or on podiums). I would however be able to wear branded clothing and product sampling away from the podium. They would be mentioned in any press interviews and I would also welcome the opportunity to promote any sponsor on their own media site.

Other Partners

As this is only my second International competition and still a relatively new lifter, this will be my first dip into requesting any sponsorship.

Investment

Approx £1500 to cover travel, accommodation, entry and drugs testing expenses.

Other Info

I previously had a GoFund Me page for my Commonwealth championships in NZ however, I feel that I cannot continue this in the long run and would be looking at a short or long time sponsor.
