Glittery Literary are a charitable writing contest project aims to help lift talented new authors out of the slush pile.
Glittery Literary has been set up by a committed volunteer to help shine a spotlight on great, new, budding authors by giving them a contest to win! GL run regular flash, short, long and children’s story writing contests globally, advertised via the internet and word of mouth. Entrants currently pay a couple of pounds to enter each contest. We offer small cash prizes, publication of winning and selected work in an anthology and the chance for the piece to be recorded as an audio file which can be shared for all to enjoy via our website.
Winning a writing contest is a true credit that can be mentioned in the rather official process of querying to literary agents and publishing houses, and we are hoping that winning one of our contests or being featured in one of our publications will give great, new authors confidence and sustenance when seeking professional representation.
Alongside helping to raise the profile of budding writers, we aim to donate all of the profits from this voluntary-run project to charities dedicated to fighting child poverty in the UK. We see ourselves as somewhat of a cooperative, offering our entrants and visitors to our website the chance to help select which UK based charity we donate to at regular intervals—all of which help to alleviate child poverty in the UK).
We also plan to release and sell regular anthologies of winning work, and profits from this too will go towards the charitable cause selected.
We are looking for a sponsor to be able to contribute to or fund the entirety of our prize pot for each contest round so that all monies we receive can be donated to charity. Our current prize cost each round is £70 (1 x £30 prize and 2 x £20 prize) which we dock from the money raised through entry fees.
If you think you can help, we can offer advertising space on our website (www.glitteryliterary.com) and perhaps within our hard copy publication and are open to other suggestions.
Thanks for reading this far, and do get in touch if you think you would like to be part of this exciting and creative worthwhile project!
We are also interested in speaking with anyone who feels they can help us raise our profile in the literary world.
