Feed Our Communities CIC

Feed Our Communities CIC is more than a project—it’s deeply personal to me. As a wheelchair user, I was once given an incredible opportunity to work with shire horses and engage in farming. At the time, it was clear that opportunities like this would be rare for someone with my disability. Despite this, someone believed in me and gave me the chance to pursue something I was passionate about, a kindness that left a lasting impression on me.

This enterprise allows me to extend that same kindness and opportunity to others. By ensuring that all of my activities are fully accessible, I aim to empower people of all abilities to engage in meaningful experiences, whether it’s learning sustainable farming practices, connecting with their community, or finding joy in activities they never thought possible. In this way, I am repaying the kindness I received and creating a space where no one is left behind.

Hi, I’m the founder of Feed Our Communities CIC, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting social inclusion, alleviating food poverty, and building resilient communities. Our work supports residents and families by providing practical solutions like community agroecology projects, while also collaborating with professionals to develop innovative strategies for sustainability and inclusivity.

We aim to empower individuals and families to engage with their environment, enhance their well-being, and foster stronger connections within their communities. At the same time, we work closely with professionals to integrate best practices, research, and scalable solutions into our initiatives.

Through workshops, consultancy, and community programs, I share:

Project Updates: Stories of progress and collaboration with residents, families, and partner organisations.

Sustainable Living Guides: Tips tailored to improve eco-friendly practices in local households.

Permaculture Discussions: Innovative approaches to farming and gardening, designed with accessibility in mind.

Mental Health Insights: Tools and strategies to reduce social isolation and improve well-being.

Alignment with Values: Be part of creating a future focused on inclusion, sustainability, and empowerment.

Community Engagement: Work alongside residents, families, and professionals to support impactful programs.

Other Info

Feed Our Communities CIC had to pause many of its activities due to NHS shielding measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, I faced significant health challenges, including contracting sepsis twice, which further delayed operations. Despite these setbacks, I remained committed to the mission and used this period to refine ideas and develop new strategies. Since restarting, I’ve been actively rebuilding connections and reaching out to residents, families, professionals, and organisations to foster collaboration.

An integral focus of my work has been developing innovative projects, such as:

Medical Compression Research: Exploring solutions for better compression garments to aid in lymphoedema treatment, driven by my personal experiences as someone living with the condition.

Agroecology Design: Creating sustainable farming systems to secure food security while engaging communities in meaningful, hands-on projects.

Insect Farming Initiatives: Introducing sustainable food production methods to support environmental resilience.

Social Activities and Festivals: Hosting inclusive events that bring people together to celebrate diversity and community spirit.

Breaking the enterprise into individual projects allows sponsors to choose where they’d like to contribute, offering flexibility and alignment with their goals. Your support will help empower people, foster sustainable practices, and build a future focused on accessibility and inclusivity.

By partnering with Feed Our Communities CIC, sponsors will also benefit from being part of a resilient organisation committed to breaking barriers and creating opportunities for people of all abilities.
